How Do Audew Battery Cutoff Switches Work

audew.com October 6,2019

Have you ever wondered why your car stopped storing after a few weeks and found that the battery is better than the door nail? You have reviewed the pre-storage list and ensure that all breakers and indicators are off, but your battery is still DOA. You even plugged in the car and charged the battery for a few days to ensure it was fully charged before storage. How is this going?

The simplest type of switch you can use is a simple terminal disconnect switch. Make sure your new switch has a rating to handle the load on the vehicle's battery. this is very important! Choosing to use, worn or underrated switches can cause serious electrical problems or even fire. AUDEW Battery Cutoff Switches is recommended by“ The 10 Best 12V Battery Isolators”. It’s built with a tough plastic housing to help it resist wear and tear in marine environments, which makes it useful for watercraft, like fishing vessels and jet skis. The power switch is large, bright and easy to use, too.

Steps

1:Disconnect the positive battery terminal (usually red, and marked with a “+” sign).

2: Carefully remove the battery clamp from the negative lead and save it should you want to remove your cutoff switch later.

3: If you connect to car battery without take out the car battery cable, you will need another positive cable, long enough to reach from the positive battery terminal to the switch. Connect the original cable to one contact on the switch. Connect one end of the new short cable to the other switch contact, the other end to the positive terminal of the battery. You should be able to do this without removing the battery.

NOTE: This is based on the assumption that you have a negative ground system.

Disconnecting the battery while leaving the vehicle for a long time helps prevent the battery from running out. When power is required, simply turn the switch on, reconnect the battery, and leave. For the type, the opposite is true. By disconnecting the battery, you can give them a bigger obstacle before they get on the road. In your car!
